Responsibility for the management of the Rural Transport Programme (RTP), was assigned to the National Transport Authority (NTA) with effect from 1 April 2012.  This includes responsibility for implementing the restructuring of the RTP announced on 9 July 2013 and the allocation of funding to the 17 Transport Co-ordination Units.

The Department has not conducted any studies into the performance of the Programme since the restructuring was announced in 2013, as that process and the formation of the Transport Co-ordination Units has been ongoing into 2015. The NTA, however, as part of its management role monitors the performance of the Programme.

I have therefore forwarded your question to the NTA for further response to you. Please advise my private office if you do not receive a reply within 10 working days.
