View answerThe Sustainable Energy Authority of Ireland (SEAI) operates a number of schemes under the Better Energy programme on behalf of my Department. There are no eligibility restrictions for these schemes based on building type. The Better Energy Homes scheme offers a range of grants to homeowners who wish to upgrade the energy efficiency of their home. Fixed grants are provided towards the cost of a range of measures including attic insulation, wall insulation, heating systems upgrades, solar thermal panels and accompanying Better Energy Rating (BER). The householder should discuss the best options for insulating their type of home with an SEAI registered contractor.
Timber framed homes would also be eligible for support under the Better Energy Warmer Homes scheme, which delivers energy efficiency upgrades to low income households vulnerable to energy poverty and the Better Energy Communities Scheme, where the focus is on buildings in the community sector and local clusters of homes likely to be at risk of energy poverty.
