Deputy Michael McCarthy asked the Minister for Transport, Tourism and Sport if he will ensure that the existing rural transport scheme and the Cancer Connect service in west Cork are maintained, as these services are invaluable resources for carers in the area where public transport is inaccessible to many; and if he will make a statement on the matter. Responsibility for the management of the Rural Transport Programme was assigned to the National Transport Authority (NTA) with effect from 1 April 2012.
