29. Deputy Thomas P. Broughan asked the Tánaiste and Minister for Social Protection her plans to increase disability allowance, given the major additional living costs of citizens with disabilities, and given that this proposal was a long-term objective of her own political party while in opposition; and if she will make a statement on the matter. In line with its commitments when it took office, the Government has protected core weekly social welfare rates. Any increases in social welfare rates can only be considered by the Government in the context of its overall deliberations on Budget 2016.
