688. Deputy Bernard J. Durkan asked the Minister for Education and Skills the number of new schools on greenfield sites; replacements for existing deficient structures, approved, funded, and completed in the past five years; the extent to which she expects this to continue in the next five years; and if she will make a statement on the matter. A total of 131 new schools have been completed since the start of 2011 until the end of September 2015. It is expected that 50 large scale projects (new schools and large scale extensions) will be completed in 2015 and it is forecast that this level of large scale project completion will continue on an annual basis for the foreseeable future.
