View answerMy Department publishes a wide range of housing statistics. The statistics are available on my Department’s website at:
http://www.environ.ie/en/Publications/StatisticsandRegularPublications/HousingStatistics/FileDownLoad,15295,en.xls.
Statistics relating to the overall number of houses previously sold as affordable homes under local authority Affordable Housing schemes that are now rented out by the current owner are not collected by my Department.
However, Department records show that to the end of September 2015, under the Social Housing Current Expenditure Programme (SHCEP), previously known as the leasing initiative), 2,111 unsold affordable units were in use as social housing. A breakdown of these units by local authority is shown in the following table. These units are rented to social housing tenants.
