664. Deputy Aengus Ó Snodaigh asked the Minister for Health the current number of whole-time-equivalent consultant geneticists and whole-time-equivalent genetic counsellors employed in the public health system; and the estimated cost of increasing their number to reflect the standards recommended by the Royal College of Physicians in the United Kingdom and the Association of Genetic Nurses and Counsellors in the United Kingdom, which is one full-time genetic counsellor per 100,000 of the population, and a minimum of three consultant geneticists per 1 million of the population.
