Deputy Dara Calleary asked the Minister for Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation the number of inspections carried out by the Workplace Relations Commission in Irish meat processing plants; the number of prosecutions undertaken, by county, in each of the years 2012 to 2015, to date, in tabular form; and if he will make a statement on the matter. No prosecutions were recorded in this sector during the period 2012-2015. The aim of inspections is to achieve voluntary compliance with employment law through the provision of education and awareness and inspection of employers’ employment records.
