Deputy Regina Doherty asked the Minister for Public Expenditure and Reform the number of employees under his remit who are classified under a contract of indefinite duration; the number of these who are receiving incremental salary payments; and if he will make a statement on the matter. I am informed by the Commissioners of Public Works that contracts of indefinite duration (CIDs) can be applied to a number of the seasonal employees recruited annually. CIDs apply where seasonal workers have been successful in being re-employed, on fixed term contracts, over a number of years. Incremental salary payments are applied in these instances. Approximately 200 seasonal employees, mainly guide services at heritage sites, would fall within this category.
