218. Deputy Bernard J. Durkan asked the Minister for the Environment, Community and Local Government if funding for housing adaptation grants in County Kildare is adequate to meet requirements; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [44639/15]
View answerI allocated total funding for 2015 of €50.5m nationally for the Housing Adaptation Grants for Older People and People with a Disability. This represents a 10% increase on the funding available in 2014. The allocation to Kildare County Council for 2015 for the grants was €2,429,000. To date Kildare County Council has drawn down 77% of its allocation and has not sought additional exchequer funding for the grants in 2015. The detailed administration of these grant schemes, including the assessment, approval and prioritisation of grants to applicants under the various grant measures is the responsibility of the relevant local authority.
