661. Deputy Barry Cowen asked the Minister for the Environment, Community and Local Government the number of commercial ratepayers who did not pay the charges due in 2014 and the combined amount of these unpaid charges by local authority. [46332/15]
View answerLocal authorities are under a statutory obligation to levy rates on any property used for commercial purposes in accordance with the details entered in the valuation lists prepared by the independent Commissioner of Valuation under the Valuation Act 2001. The levying and collection of rates are matters for each individual local authority. Rates income data are published by local authorities in their Annual Financial Statements. The latest year for which audited local authority Annual Financial Statement data are available is 2013. These figures are published as a matter of course on local authority websites.
