Deputy Róisín Shortall asked the Minister for the Environment, Community and Local Government the level of statutory responsibility each local authority has for removing fallen leaves and ensuring that footpaths and walkways remain clear of fallen leaves; and if he will make a statement on the matter. I have no function in relation to the removal of fallen leaves from footpaths and walkways. However, I understand that local authorities target some of their street-cleaning services to sweep leaves from streets, residential roads and paths during the autumn period.
