View answerIn December 2014, the Health Information and Quality Authority (HIQA) published a report on Pre-Hospital Emergency Care Services, which highlighted the need for greater cooperation at all levels between the National Ambulance Service (NAS) and Dublin Fire Brigade (DFB). The report proposed changes to call-taking and ambulance dispatch, as well as overall clinical governance in order to achieve a better, safer, more responsive service for the people of Dublin. The report did not propose an amalgamation of Dublin Fire Brigade and the National Ambulance Service.
While I do not have responsibility for the provision of emergency ambulance services , I understand that Dublin City Council and the Health Service Executive continue to work together to reform emergency ambulance services in the greater Dublin area.
