View answerPayments under the Green Low-carbon Agri-environment Scheme (GLAS) are justified on the basis of income foregone and the cost of compliance with the specific farming prescription set out in the scheme agri-environment specifications.
In the implementation of the Farmland Birds action, where a farmer chooses to exclude a percentage of the bird habitat from the GLAS farming prescription no payment is made on the area excluded.
