Questions (1133)

Clare Daly

Question:

1133. Deputy Clare Daly asked the Minister for Transport, Tourism and Sport if he is aware that persons over 70 years of age will have to present in person at National Driver Licence Service centres every time they wish to renew their driving licences, as they must present an up-to-date medical certificate with each application, which constitutes a change in their details; his views on whether this is fair; and if he will make a statement on the matter. The operation of the driver licensing service is a matter for the Road Safety Authority. I have therefore referred the question to the Authority for direct reply. I would ask the Deputy to contact my office if a response is not received within ten days.
