513. Deputy Willie Penrose asked the Minister for Social Protection if an application for disability allowance by a person (details supplied) will be expedited; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [9906/16]
View answerI confirm that an application from the person concerned for disability allowance (DA) was received by the Department on 19 November 2015. The application has been referred to a Social Welfare Inspector (SWI) for a report on the person’s means and circumstances. Following a meeting with the SWI, the person in question has undertaken to provide further documentation in support of their claim. On receipt of the inspectors report, eligibility of the person in question will be determined. The person concerned will be notified in writing when a decision has been made. I hope this clarifies the matter for the Deputy.
