Deputy Seán Haughey asked the Tánaiste and Minister for Justice and Equality if a motorist is entitled to receive photo and calibration details from the fixed-charge processing office of An Garda Síochána prior to any possible appeal to the courts in respect of an alleged offence that may involve the imposition of penalty points; and if she will make a statement on the matter. The Deputy will appreciate that I have no function in relation to the bringing of prosecutions for road traffic or other offences. To be of assistance, I have sought the observations of the Garda authorities in relation to the matters referred to and will contact the Deputy directly as soon as the information is to hand.
