121. Deputy Peter Burke asked the Minister for Finance the reason for the delay in respect of vehicle registration tax, with garages in the midlands having to travel significant distances to meet officers; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [19149/16]
View answerI am informed by Revenue that they have checked with the service provider, Applus, about the Tullamore NCT Centre and, while the centre is busy, there are appointment slots available. I am also informed by Revenue that all of the NCT Centres in the midlands area provide a full VRT service and are likewise busy but with slots available. Unless they have a requirement for a very specific time slot that is not available at their local NCT Centre, it should not be necessary for garages to have to travel beyond their local area.
