291. Deputy Thomas P. Broughan asked the Minister for Social Protection the number of persons resident here in receipt of a United Kingdom pension; the number of persons resident in the United Kingdom, by area in England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland, in receipt of an Irish State pension; and if he will make a statement on the matter. According to the United Kingdom’s Department for Work and Pensions, there were 135,070 recipients of UK state pension residing in Ireland at the end of November 2015.

The following table shows the number of persons resident in the United Kingdom, who are currently in receipt of Irish state pension (contributory) or Widow(er)’s and surviving civil partner’s (contributory) pension, broken down by address as provided by the claimant. State pension (contributory) is payable from age 66. Widow (er)’s and surviving civil partner’s (contributory) pension is payable at any age.
