Questions (701)

Niamh Smyth

Question:

701. Deputy Niamh Smyth asked the Taoiseach and Minister for Defence the number of staff employed in his Department's archive unit in each of the years 2010 to 2016, to date, in tabular form; his plans to expand this number; if there are protocol changes arising from changes to the National Archives Acts; and if he will make a statement on the matter. The Department of Defence does not have an Archive Unit. Central Registry Section staff deal with duties which come under the National Archives Act 1986, amongst other duties. I am satisfied that this is sufficient to fulfil the Department’s duty under the National Archives Act 1986.
