Deputy Willie Penrose asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and the Marine to outline his plans to review the operation of the inspection system and agricultural appeals office in the context of a recent case (details supplied) which found the inspection system employed was procedurally flawed; the number of such decisions and appeals that will be affected by this decision; and if he will make a statement on the matter. The legal case to which the Deputy refers has not yet reached its conclusion, and as the matter progresses I will be obtaining legal advice as appropriate. Accordingly, issues such as those raised by the Deputy can only be addressed following the completion of the legal process.
