Deputy Catherine Martin asked the Minister for Public Expenditure and Reform the grades at which new entrants to the Civil Service have been recruited in each of the years from 2010 to 2016 to date; and if the overall staffing level at each of these grades has diminished or increased over that period of time. View answerAs the Deputy will be aware, the Public Appointments Service (PAS) is an independent, statutory body which provides professional recruitment and selection services to the civil and public service.
I understand from the PAS that the following Civil Service General Service grades were recruited for the years 2010 to 2016 as follows;
2012 Administrative Officer
2013 Administrative Officer, Third Secretary
2014 Administrative Officer, Clerical Officer, Assistant Principal*, Principal*
2015 Administrative Officer, Clerical Officer, Executive Officer, Assistant Principal, First Secretary and Principal
2016 - Administrative Officer, Third Secretary, Clerical Officer, Executive Officer, Assistant Principal, First Secretary and Principal.
* posts with specialist expertise i.e. OGP, Peoplepoint
The following Table contains Civil Service General Service grade numbers for the period 2010 to the end of the first quarter 2016. The figures do not include Prison Officers, Professional/Technical grades, staff in the National Gallery or staff recruited locally abroad by the Department of Foreign Affairs.
