Deputy Clare Daly asked the Tánaiste and Minister for Justice and Equality her views on the implications of the ruling on 9 February 2016 by the High Court of Northern Ireland (details supplied); her plans to amend Irish equality legislation such that cohabiting partners are no longer discriminated against relative to their married peers; and if she will make a statement on the matter. I do not think it appropriate that I should comment by way of answer to a Parliamentary Question about court decisions in other jurisdictions. Such decisions do not have implications for Ireland's equality legislation.
