881. Deputy Hildegarde Naughton asked the Minister for Public Expenditure and Reform to outline his plans to introduce a grant aid scheme following flooding that occurred in south County Mayo in December 2015; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [24487/16]
View answerThe Interdepartmental Flood Policy Co-ordination Group is considering a range of policy issues and options in relation to flood risk management, including the potential costs and benefits associated with the introduction of an individual property protection scheme. The Group will be informed by two pilot projects which are currently underway in Thomastown and Graiguenamanagh in County Kilkenny and Crossmolina in County Mayo. The Group’s work, when completed, will be submitted to Government for consideration in the context of the merits of the introduction of any such scheme.
