Joint Policing Committees are presently operated in accordance with a set of guidelines which were last reviewed in 2014. These guidelines include provision for the membership of the joint policing committee. The guidelines encourage representation from the business and community sectors and, as such, there is nothing to prevent members of the chambers of commerce from being represented on these committees.

The Deputy may also be aware that under section 35 of the Garda Síochána Act 2005, as amended, the independent Policing Authority now has responsibility for the revision or withdrawal of these guidelines and issuance of any future guidelines.
