142. Deputy Bernard J. Durkan asked the Minister for Health the procedure to be followed to facilitate a person (details supplied) who is an Irish citizen, whose primary degree in medicine was through the medium of French and who is now anxious to obtain a position as a doctor here; the extent to which pre-registration examination is required; and if he will make a statement on the matter. Recognition of medical qualifications for the purposes of registration as a medical practitioner entitled to work in Ireland is a matter for the Medical Council. I have forwarded your request to the Medical Council for direct reply to the Deputy.
