View answerThe role of the Education Disadvantage Committee was to advise the Minister for Education and Science on policies and strategies to be adopted to identify and correct educational disadvantage.
Expenditure by the Department in respect of the EDC during its term of office was as follows:
2003 - €38,000
2004 - €62,000
2005 - €75,000
2006 - €700
The Committee's term of office expired in 2005.
The relevant legislative provision for the establishment of the Educational Disadvantage Committee was repealed by Section 7 of the Education (Amendment Act) 2012.
