186. Deputy Bernard J. Durkan asked the Minister for Social Protection if he will review the case of a person (details supplied); and if he will make a statement on the matter. [5143/17]

Minister of State at the Department of Social Protection

My department is in contact with this lady with proposals for the recovery of the debt. The debt recovery officer is still awaiting a response to the recovery proposal sent to the person concerned on 16 November 2016. A reminder issued to this lady on 13 January 2017.

The person in question was awarded disability allowance with effect from 10 August 2016 and first payment was 5 October 2016. Disability allowance has remained in payment since that date.

I trust this clarifies the matter for the Deputy.
