Deputy Maureen O'Sullivan asked the Minister for Transport, Tourism and Sport his views on whether demand for commuter rail services between Newbridge, County Kildare and Grand Canal Dock in Dublin via the Phoenix Park Tunnel, would be enhanced if that service were to be converged with the Connolly Station to Sligo line at Prospect Junction, Cross Guns Bridge, as recommended by a group (details supplied) amongst others; and if he will make a statement on the matter. The issue raised is a matter for Iarnród Éireann in conjunction with the National Transport Authority (NTA) and I have forwarded the Deputy's question to Iarnród Éireann for direct reply. Please advise my private office if you do not receive a response within ten working days.
