621. Deputy Eugene Murphy asked the Minister for Transport, Tourism and Sport the current waiting time period to sit a driving test in the Athlone driving test centre and the Loughrea driving test centre; his views on whether the closure of the Ballinasloe driving test centre has put considerable pressure on the Athlone and Loughrea centres; and if he will make a statement on the matter. The operation of the driver testing service is the statutory responsibility of the Road Safety Authority, and I have no role in these matters. I have therefore referred the Question to the Authority for direct response. I would ask the Deputy to contact my office if a reply has not been received within ten days.
