250. Deputy Catherine Murphy asked the Minister for Social Protection the cost per year for the past three years for the storage of data and or files on cloud storage or third party servers; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [9411/17]
View answerMy Department operates two secure data centres in which all business data is stored. Some limited utilisation of cloud computing services has been undertaken by my Department in recent years, in tandem with the growth in the utilisation of such services in the provision of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) services generally. My Department utilises very limited hybrid cloud solutions in the delivery of some of its modern ICT services - where such solutions are considered appropriate. In instances where hybrid cloud solutions are utilised, the data is always stored in my Department’s data centres and is not stored in cloud storage or on any third party servers.
