Bernard Durkan

Question:

255. Deputy Bernard J. Durkan asked the Minister for Social Protection if a deferral of JobPath meetings will be undertaken in the case of a person (details supplied); if provision will be made whereby jobseeker's or similar payment will continue in this case in view of the necessity for the person to remain at home; and if he will make a statement on the matter. The Department of Social Protection has been in contact with the person concerned in relation to the particular circumstances in this matter. Following this communication it is now the intention of the person concerned to apply for a carer’s allowance. An application form was sent to the person concerned by post and upon receipt of a completed application for carer’s allowance a deferral may be possible.

I hope this clarifies the matter for the Deputy.
