101. Deputy Thomas P. Broughan asked the Tánaiste and Minister for Justice and Equality if new entrants to the position of prison officer will be in receipt of rent allowance; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [11302/17]
View answerI am informed by the Irish Prison Service that discussions are currently ongoing between the Irish Prison Service and the Prison Officers' Association on the productivity/reform measures required for the reinstatement of the rent allowance to new Recruit Prison Officers. Once finalised, these will be submitted to the Department of Public Expenditure and Reform, which is the sanctioning authority for such payments.
