1047. Deputy Brendan Smith asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and the Marine if persons who have given long service as temporary veterinary inspectors with his Department will have public service pension entitlements; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [13450/17]

Temporary Veterinary Inspectors are engaged as and when required by my Department to assist my

Department's permanent veterinary staff. They are not employees of my Department, rather they are engaged on a contract for services, and therefore they have no pension entitlements with my department.
