91. Deputy Richard Boyd Barrett asked the Minister for Transport, Tourism and Sport if his attention or that of his predecessors has been drawn to a decision in 2015 of Córas Iompair Éireann, CIE, to extend for six years the terms of the master development agreement in relation to a site (details supplied); if he understands the rationale for this decision in view of the fact serious questions had been raised regarding whether this arrangement was best value for money for a publicly owned company; and if he will make a statement on the matter. Minister for Transport, Tourism and Sport

The Transport Acts provide CIÉ with the statutory power to acquire and dispose of property. The CIÉ decision raised by the Deputy is a matter for CIÉ and not a matter in which the Minister has a role. Therefore, I have forwarded the Deputy's question to CIÉ for direct reply. Please advise my private office if you do not receive a response within ten working days.
