55. Deputy Peadar Tóibín asked the Tánaiste and Minister for Justice and Equality the number of allegations of child abuse referred by the Health Service Executive to An Garda Síochána for prosecution; the number of cases that were deemed to be unfounded; and the number of cases of false reporting referred for prosecution under section 5 of the Protections for Persons Reporting Child Abuse Act 1998, each year after that Act was signed into law and before the responsibility for dealing with allegations of child abuse was transferred to Tusla.
