89. Deputy Michael D'Arcy asked the Minister for Education and Skills if there are grants available for a school (details supplied) in County Wexford to construct a playground in its grounds; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [15557/17]
View answerI wish to advise the Deputy that the works referred to are eligible to be considered for funding under the Summer Works Scheme, the purpose of which is to devolve funding to individual school authorities to facilitate carrying out small and medium scale works that will improve and upgrade existing school buildings and the grounds within the school site area. My Department has no record of receiving an application from the school in question under the Summer Works Scheme (SWS) 2016 and 2017.
The school may use its minor works grant, which all primary schools received last November, to carry out works in full or on a phased basis, as that grant permits, if the school considers the works to be a priority.
