Deputy Niamh Smyth asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and the Marine if he will consider introducing a project to support activities (details supplied) in counties Cavan and Monaghan in order to boost tourism and create local employment; and if he will make a statement on the matter. View answerFunctions relating to tourism and its development are not assigned to me or my Department. The introduction of projects to support activities, such as those suggested by the Deputy, in order to contribute to tourism development does not therefore fall within the remit of my Department. Consideration of any such proposals, or advice on the options available for support or funding, may be appropriate to the Department of Transport, Tourism and Sport or bodies under its aegis.
