View answerMy Department’s Social Inclusion and Community Activation Programme (SICAP) is the largest social Inclusion intervention of its kind in the State. It was rolled out in April 2015 and will run until 31 December 2017. Its aim is to tackle poverty, social exclusion and long-term unemployment through local engagement and partnership between disadvantaged individuals, community organisations, public sector agencies and other stakeholders. The Programme has three goals which focus on community development, education and training, and employment.
As SICAP one-to-one interventions are focussed on people of working age, the organisation concerned is not in receipt of funding through the programme. Given the type of support and the target group concerned this appears to be a matter for my colleagues, the Minister for Education and Skills and the Minister for Communications, Climate Action and Environment.
