The current system of student support is underpinned by the Student Support Act 2011. The review of the Act has commenced and it is anticipated that it will be completed in early 2018. As previously advised, all relevant issues, including an examination of the qualifying criteria for the special rate of grant, will be considered as part of this review.

With regard to the Student Grant Scheme, the Deputy will be aware that the 2017 scheme and regulations were published in late March. It is anticipated that the 2018 scheme and regulations will be published in spring 2018.
