View answerI have no ministerial responsibility for the terms and conditions that apply to the office of local authority councillor, which are governed under the Local Authority Acts. I should explain that local authority councillors are office holders, as opposed to employees, and they are therefore are not provided for in the Maternity Protection Acts or the Paternity Leave and Benefit Act.
