462. Deputy Margaret Murphy O'Mahony asked the Minister for Arts, Heritage, Regional, Rural and Gaeltacht Affairs the way in which her Department is improving services and increasing supports for persons with disabilities during 2017. [34026/17]
View answerWhile my Department is not directly responsible for the provision of services or supports for person with disabilities I am committed to ensuring access to arts, culture and heritage for all citizens. This commitment is reflected in the inclusive nature of the Creative Ireland Programme launched earlier this year. I would also advise the Deputy that my Department is represented on the National Disability Inclusion Strategy Steering Group, and under the National Disability Inclusion Strategy 2017 – 2020, is committed to ensuring that accessibility for all is supported through;
- the application of universal design principles in the development of buildings and facilities, and
- integrating disability inclusion into the design and operation of funding programmes and schemes.
