Section 7 of the Gender Recognition Act 2015 provides for a review of the Act to commence within 2 years of enactment of the legislation.

My Department is working on this and I hope to be in a position to establish the review group shortly and its terms of reference will then be finalised. The matters covered by the review will include issues relating to gender recognition for children younger than 16 years of age; arrangements for 16 and 17 year olds; and the position of non-binary and intersex persons.

The findings and conclusions of the review must be presented to the Oireachtas by September 2018.
