Questions (45)

James Lawless

Question:

45. Deputy James Lawless asked the Minister for Transport, Tourism and Sport if his attention has been drawn to the fact that ongoing industrial unrest within the transport unions is having both operational impact upon bus services on many Kildare to Dublin routes, due to cancellations and no shows and is also hampering planned service extensions such as the ten minute DART and planned additional off-peak service on the Sallins to Hazelhatch to Grand Canal dock routes; and if he will make a statement on the matter. I have responsibility for policy and overall funding in relation to public transport. However, I am not involved in the day-to-day operations of public transport. Industrial relations are a matter for the relevant companies and their employees.

I have referred the Deputy's question in relation to services between Kildare and Dublin to the National Transport Authority for direct reply. Please advise my private office if a response is not received within ten working days.
