Deputy Róisín Shortall asked the Minister for Health if his attention has been drawn to new 2012 procedures for the awarding of the renewal and awarding of medical cards (details supplied) and the impact of these in respect of payments to general practitioners; and the steps he is taking to address this matter. The HSE Primary Care Reimbursement Service is responsible for reimbursing GPs for a range of services they provide to medical card and GP visit card holders. I have therefore arranged for this question to be referred to the HSE for attention and direct reply to the Deputy.
