117. Deputy Niall Collins asked the Taoiseach the number of active enterprises by size (details supplied); and the number of persons engaged in each size category in each of the years 2005 to 2015, in tabular form. [51960/17]

The information requested by the Deputy is available for the years 2006 to 2015. The information for 2006 and 2007 is on a different basis to the data from 2008 onwards, due to the application by the CSO of an updated definition of what constitutes an Active Enterprise, in line with EU definitions. This means that the data for 2006 and 2007 are not directly comparable with the results for 2008 and subsequent years. The following two tables show the number of enterprises and persons engaged classified by size of enterprise. Table 1 is for the years 2006 and 2007. Table 2 is for the years 2008 to 2015.
