226. Deputy John Lahart asked the Minister for Transport, Tourism and Sport the figures and statistics available by county for tourism; if there is a regular update of these statistics by county; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [52178/17]
View answerAs the Deputy is aware, official statistics on tourism are published by the Central Statistics Office. The CSO does not publish tourism statistics on a county basis. It does, however, publish regional statistics for domestic tourism on a quarterly basis. Whilst the CSO does not currently publish regional statistics for overseas visitors, Fáilte Ireland uses CSO data to estimate regional figures for overseas visitors and associated revenue, which it publishes on an annual basis.
