Deputy Peadar Tóibín asked the Minister for Rural and Community Development the name and number of organisations here that are in receipt of funding from his Department that have expended resources seeking the repeal of the eighth amendment; the amount of funding these organisations have received from the State in the past five years; the amount of money they have spent on this particular campaign during that time; the number of organisations here that are in receipt of funding from his Department that have expended resources seeking the retention of the eighth amendment; the amount of funding these organisations have received from the State in the past five years; and the amount of money they have spent on this particular campaign during that time. Each organisation that receives funding from my Department is funded to provide services in the public interest in line with overall Government objectives and it is essential that this be done in an equitable, transparent and non-partisan way.  This Department does not provide funding for political or legislative campaigns.
