Written answers

Under the Control of Dogs Acts, local authorities have responsibility for the management of dog pounds. Enforcement of welfare standards for animals, including dogs come under the Animal Health and Welfare Act 2013. My Department maintains a close working relationship with local authorities on dog welfare matters and has consulted with the relevant local authorities who avail of the services of the enterprise referenced, all of which have indicated that the facility is maintained to a very high standard and has passed all recent unannounced veterinary inspections.
