880. Deputy Niall Collins asked the Minister for Transport, Tourism and Sport the criteria used to select the golf course on which an event (details supplied) is played each year; the degree of involvement he has in the process; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [12939/18]

Minister for Transport, Tourism and Sport

The European Tour is responsible for the operation of the Irish Open and is therefore responsible for the selection of the golf course for the event. Neither Sport Ireland or my Department has any role in the selection process.
